I couldn't put this book down-it was an absolutely mesmerizing sequel to Brigg's first book in the Mercedes Thompson series, Moon Called. In this installment, we begin to explore another supernatural community that was established in the first book, but never fleshed out: the vampires. Brigg's superb attention to detail, her ability to make the reader feel sympathetic towards a member of a darker side of the magickal world stands out as one of the most engaging and gratifying urban fantasy series today. I would highly recommend this novel, and every other in this series as a must-read for those who love modern-day fantasy with strong, believable characters and narrated by a gutsy, girl-next-door supernatural and humanly fallible heroine.
