Luckily for me, I checked this book out at the library rather than spending good money on it. Unfortunately, it was such a tough slog that I ended up having to spend $1.00 in late fees. I want my dollar back. (I only finished it because I figured it had to get better. Baldacci's better than this, I thought. It didn't, and maybe he isn't.) Awkward prose. Awkward dialogue. Soap operas, I imagine, have better plots. >>SPOILER ALERT<< On page 379, the entire plot is summarized thusly: "..(President) Dan Cox sexually assaulted Tippy Quarry and then she fell into a coma after a botched abortion, (so her father) Sam Quarry is exacting his revenge."
