The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: A Novel This instant

"I find people confusing."(p. 14) Most people don't, however, Christopher John Francis Boone, the main character in the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, finds them incomprehensible. This book is a novel about an autistic boy growing up and learning to deal with life. It is written as if the main character is writing it throughout the story. It an eccentric book that will hook you in and won't let you out until you're done. Overall, I feel that this is an excellent read.
Of course, that is not to say the book does not have bad points. This book has language and some complex issues involved, so it is not acceptable for children. The book also has a unique style, which the reader may like or dislike, it simply depends on who is reading it. The style comes from the perspective of having an autistic child write the book, making the book quite individual. The unique style means this also falls under the category of advantages, of which there are more. The book is informative and direct, there is never a dull chapter or a misplaced plot event. You cannot guess the end until you've read it, and it is quite a surprise. The style is certainly the book's strongest point, because is incomparable. The language is straightforward and specific, showing exactly what the point is. The passages go from a calm explanation of how to solve a puzzle, to the harsh arguments when Christopher does something wrong. The language is British English, appropriate for the setting. Early on, Christopher tells us that he does not like or understand metaphors, so aside from a few exceptions, they are absent. Other literary devices are scarce as well, except for similes; there are several similes that Christopher uses to help explain things. Another interesting thing is the format. Instead of using traditional chapters, the author numbers them as prime numbers because of the main character's enjoyment of math.
As I said before, overall this is an excellent book. I recommend you read it today.Get more detail about The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: A Novel.
