While this entry into the Outlander series may not have the same amount of derring do involved, it nevertheless was a page-turner--quite an accomplishment for a book with this many pages. I really liked the character development of this book, and also the expansion of the family relationships. There are few unhealthy family relationships, but that just makes the one enjoyed by Claire and Jamie's clan all the better. One of my favorite passages is a trip to the wilderness by Brianna and her cousin Ian. This entry into the series does seem a bit more episodic and perhaps choppier in the plotting, but that is a minor quibble.
