Low Price The Lovely Bones

It is tough to write something about this particular book that 3,000 other reviews have not already said. Based on the popularity of the book alone, there is obviously something quite good about the book. At the same time, it is not without flaws.

The plot is centered of the murder of young Susie Salmon. While this event sets the plot in motion, the story line branches in so many different directions. Among the flaws in the story is the subplots pulling so far away from the central story that it seems to become an afterthought. The initial chapters had the eerie feel of a true crime work told from a different prespect. Then, the novel follows the people left in the aftermath of the crime. This is not a problem in itself other than it follows the people too far and too long. The extend of the details borders on digression.

The killer, Mr. Harvey, is a fascinating character that the author seems to reveal just enough about. Yet the lack of a strong conclusion to this character was the most maddening part of the book. This aspect of the story seemed rushed and incomplete. I was not expecting a neat and just ending, but I would have preferred more than a two page end to the villain.

Overall, "The Lovely Bones" is an entertaining book that borrows elements of the supernatural and true crime to form a book that most readers can give positive feedback. It is not without flaws, but the positive outweight the flaws by far.Get more detail about The Lovely Bones.
